Sheltered
Reality - Take a Chance!
We
welcomed the group Sheltered Reality to our church on June 22 and they
were a big hit! Ear plugs were definitely a necessity, but we all
learned to:
-
Take a chance
- Never give up
- Do whatever it takes
- Believe in yourself
Several
of the audience members also got to perform! And we danced an
awesome conga line around the church lead by Pastor Chris and Pastor
Cherie. Click here to view
pictures from the Sheltered Reality concert!
Sheltered Reality is a youth-oriented project, where
youth members in SR use music and education as a way to reach
out to audiences, motivating them to advocate for those in need,
especially children and families. The educational message
presented focuses on facts, statistics, and real-life stories,
and culminates with character education and ideas for action.
SR's unique percussive approach to performing music inspires the
audience members to 'take on the world' and ensures that the
message 'doing good is fun' is remembered by all in attendance.
Sheltered
Reality believes that music can have meaning, yet be a blast at the same
time! Sheltered Reality is a unique drum group with drummers of all
ages. If you are interested in being a part of Sheltered Reality,
you may contact Pastor Cherie for more information.

Children's
Church
Starting
June 1 we will be having Children's Church during the 9:30am
service. The children will be in church with their parents for the
first 15-20 minutes and at the appropriate time will go to the social hall
for the remainder of the hour.
All
ages together will enjoy crafts, stories, snacks, songs and games.
We plan to revisit the bible stories and see how they relate to our lives.
Several
times during the summer months (approximately once a month) the children
will be asked to stay in church so they might be included in the youth
worship that will be conducted that Sunday.
Joan
Scheutz will be leading the Children's Church but will need volunteers to
help each Sunday. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board -
please consider helping one Sunday. No preparatory work will need to
be done by helpers.

Youth
Worship Team
The
Youth Council met in June to plan activities for the upcoming
months. They include a canoe trip, Six Flags, possibly a Raging
Rivers or Gateway Fun park trip, and maybe a Gateway Grizzlies game.
Keep an eye out for the upcoming schedule as details are still being
finalized!
The
youth led an awesome service of "Faith Prints" on June 22
incorporating the musical talents of Sheltered Reality.
Hope
to see you - and your friends!
Call
or email Pastor Cherie if you
have any questions.

TECHNOLOGY
TEAM
The
new sound and projection system in the Sanctuary bring a new set of
demands on EvUCC. We need a team of techno-savvy people to be
trained to run the system and to share the responsibility of staffing
it. If you are interested in computers, sounds or learning more
about them, please contact the church office.

Any
incoming 7th graders who are interested in going through the Confirmation
Program should fill out a Registration Form, available at the church
office, and return it to Pastor Cherie by August 5.
Confirmation
Orientation
Sunday,
August 24
7:00
p.m.
The
Confirmation Orientation is for any 7th graders interested in learning
more about the program as well as a re-orientation for all returning 8th
graders. Parents and youth are expected to attend as we will go over
the year's calendar, highlight the program, and discuss the changes
made. There will be a question and answer period, as well as ice
cream!
We
will be done by 8:30. Please RSVP to Pastor Cherie.
